Our Mission

The Anaconda Trail Society’s (ATS) mission is to develop and steward trails for a healthy Anaconda and surrounding community.  Our vision is to help contribute to a healthy, thriving community connected around trail-based recreation and transportation opportunities.

The ATS  meets once a month on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Pintlers Portal Hostel, at 6pm. The public is welcome to join and come learn more about what we are up to.

New Town Trails

We are beyond excited that the new Copper Link Trail is now open!
This new trail is designed for walkers, runners, bikers, families, and anyone looking for a fun way to get outside and connect with our community. Copper Link is the first piece of a larger trail vision that will eventually connect town to open spaces, and recreation opportunities right here in town.
This trail is the result of years of planning, collaboration, and a shared vision for outdoor recreation in Anaconda. Many thanks to all our members and supporters and to Phat Trak Trail Co. who are the trail builders of the Copper Link trail system. Go check it out, enjoy the views, and remember to Slow and Say Hello as you share the trail with others.
Along with the additon of Copper Link added to the hills on the South side of town we also have a set of new singletrack trails on the North side with access to Stucky Ridge from the Upper Old Works trail that is part of the Open Lands Plan. Check out more about these new trails by following the link below.

Managing and Expanding our Local Trails

While around for several years, the Anaconda Trail Society was restructured in 2022 to evolve with the rise in recreational growth in our area. The ATS operates as a non-profit with elected officers and 11 board members. Meetings are open to anyone interested in trails and we encourage you to become involved by joining our society as a member.

Trail Maintenance

Community is important to us and in 2024 we adopted local trails Foster and Lost Creek.  This means that we focus most of our trail crew work days on these two first, clearing downfall and creating drainage channels.  We work on other area trails as schedule allows plus do a spring clean up of the Lower Old Works trail with help from our local job core.
